Customer Kevin Cheung finds working with his broker Sharon Ge and NAB Business Banker Anny Huang imperative when growing a busy business and keeping on top of challenges such as the pandemic.
Kevin opened his restaurant ‘Hong Kong Bing Sutt’ about five years ago with a vision to start the first Bing Sutt styled restaurant in New South Wales. Their aim was to emulate the classic vintage (1950-60s) Hong Kong neighbourhood restaurant and bring a taste of busy Hong Kong to Sydney, which they have successfully achieved.
Why do customers keep coming back?
‘Hong Kong Bing Sutt’ has very loyal customers and many of whom are now Kevin’s friends. They bring their friends from Sydney and Hong Kong to come and eat at Kevin’s restaurant. Kevin prides himself on providing quality food and a creative menu. People also enjoy the vintage setting and 70s music!
“The Sydney Hong Kong community have been incredibly supportive over the years and have allowed us to overcome many challenges, particularly those that came with the onset of the pandemic, thankfully keeping us resilient!” Kevin said.
Overcoming our biggest challenge COVID-19
The pandemic forced all of us to change our habits and daily lives, and as a restaurant owner Kevin was faced with the challenges of lockdown restrictions.
“We have always been able to push past Covid challenges because of our quality food and our loyal customers who never fail to support us,” Kevin remarked.
In fact, Covid created opportunities for ‘Hong Kong Bing Sutt’. They launched a new line of vacuum sealed food packages, delivering easy to make authentic home-cooked meals to customers during lockdown. During the pandemic Kevin held two food donation events to share their gratitude with their community and support those people in need.
How has your broker supported you during these challenges?
Kevin has been working with his broker Sharon Ge for the past three to four years, following a referral from a mutual accountant friend who said she was utterly professional and competent. Indeed, Sharon is known for going out of her way to find the best business solutions for her clients. She spends the time to really understand their business and needs, with a wealth of experience dealing with bank procedures and understanding their credit appetite.
“Sharon is always so professional and responsive. She tailors solutions to our business needs, offering us the optimal benefits. With her guidance, we constantly find ways to further grow our business interests,” Kevin said.
Working with the bank
With the help of broker Sharon Ge, and banker Anny Huang, Kevin found the NAB application process easy and efficient.
“Sharon’s efficiency and preparation coupled with our NAB Senior Business banker Anny Huang’s expertise in analysing our business, meant our applications and forms were reviewed in a timely manner. It’s been such a great experience,” Kevin concluded.
